Google Is Folding AI Mode Into Its AI Overviews
More searches will now end in a conversational AI answer before anyone clicks a link.
Google has started pushing AI Mode, its chat-style search experience, directly into the AI Overviews that appear at the top of regular search results, according to Search Engine Roundtable's September report. AI Mode is also showing carousels of links for developing news stories.
The same report notes that Google is revamping the Q&A feature on Business Profiles, and that some businesses saw reviews go missing after their profiles were reinstated.
Every step Google takes toward AI answers means fewer people scroll to the regular list of websites. The businesses named in those answers are usually the ones with complete Business Profiles, recent reviews, and pages that answer questions directly. If you have not looked at your Google Business Profile this quarter, this is the week.
